Claro, Movistar, Digicel (best for older phones), and Tigo are the four competing providers. SIM cards cost about $1. Pre-paid plans are $1 - $15 and activate instantly.

Your English SIM card or eSIM app are fully supported here, but the roaming cost can be 5x - 10x more.

ATMs And Currency

El Salvador ATMs work with your debit and credit cards. Many merchants also accept debit and credit cards directly.

The national cash currency is US Dollars. Bitcoin is also a national currency and is widely accepted.

Once you land, you can withdraw US cash at several airport ATMs.

Customs & Immigration

Most visitors are welcomed with a 90-day tourist card for $12, purchased and issued on arrival.

Remember to keep the customs stub with your passport during your trip, as you'll need this for a seamless departure.

Customs here is a breeze like any American country, as long as your suitcase is just full of clothes.
